Aligned Newsletter: Welcome!

Water Turned to Wine

Years ago, in my early 20's, I was riding on the Long Island Rail Road feeling defeated. I was overwhelmed by work and not sure I wanted to go forward with that career. I took out my handy blackberry (lol) and wrote a short devotional on Matthew 11:28-30:

“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

I emailed it to a few friends and what came about one year later was over 300 people subscribed to my "Daily Lights" as I called them. This was before social media and things going viral, but it was the total work of the Holy Spirit.

It's what I pray this newsletter becomes. It will be released once a week and I will share a personally written reflection from scripture and resources like videos, books, movies, or music that have brought me closer to the Lord. I ask that you please share it with friends and family who need to hear an encouraging word, using this link.

Enjoy!

"You Have Kept The Good Wine Until Now"

This Sunday's Gospel reading is Jesus' first miracle at the Wedding at Cana. There is so much to glean from this passage: The way we must invite Jesus into our lives, how it's a parallel to Adam and Eve back in the garden, how Mary was the first to notice the need and persuaded Jesus to His first miracle, and how we must always do "whatever He tells us."

But in our own lives, there is something to have hope in. Sometimes things just don't go as planned. Relationships become strained and end. Finances become a struggle. Loved ones become ill. When life deals cards that leave us without hope, we can trust that Jesus isn't done yet. Not only can He turn our water into wine, but He does it in abundance (180 gallons of wine!) You can hope that with Jesus, the best is yet to come!

This Week's Devotional "Whatever you do, do from the heart as for The Lord, and not for others." Colossians 3:23 How many of you are guilty of slacking off at work if you know your boss is not around? Or how many of you clean harder when you know someone is coming to visit? We do things very differently when someone is watching as when no one is watching. This is because most of the time what we really care about is what people think of us and not so much about the quality we give to our...

A Scripture Reflection to Begin Lent... "I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you, taking from your bodies your stony hearts and giving you natural hearts." - Ezekiel 36:26As we begin the season of Lent, I asked God for the strangest thing this morning. Even when the words came out of my mouth, my mind was taken aback that I had just said those words. My commute to work in the morning is my prayer time and when I'm finished, I usually repeat, "Jesus, I trust in You," but...
